Embracing the Different Phases and Seasons of Beauty

What are your thoughts on aging and beauty? Can we still be beautiful, vibrant, confident and sexy after the age of 40, 50, 60?

If I’m honest it can get a bit trickier to look and feel your best all of the time. So many factors play a role in how you view your appearance and beauty, and ultimately how you feel about yourself and what you reflect back out into the world, including:

  • Your mood when you woke up that morning
  • What good or bad things are happening in your life at present
  • How you look, feel and show up in the world
  • Stress levels
  • Eating and nutritional habits
  • Self-care habits and rituals
  • Family and relationship ebbs and flows

Are you creating some magic and a lust for life that fills you with joy and exuberance at the moment? I am working hard at accomplishing this. Believe me — it matters in how we show up for ourselves and others.

I dislike the term anti-aging. It is a lie and doesn’t serve anyone except beauty marketers. Scientifically, if you aren’t aging you are dead, and no one wants that… Instead of doing ourselves a disservice and feeling inferior because we aren’t as youthful as we once were, let’s embrace healthy aging or even pro-aging and frame it that way — because who doesn’t want to be healthy in any phase of our life?

Let me ask you, are you trying to continue to look 25 or are you embracing and accepting the seasons and changes of your life? Don’t get me wrong — it may be harder to put yourself together and get ready to head out the door but — I’m not giving up! I believe that there are phases and stages of beauty. My personal philosophy is the more you care for yourself and that beautiful spirit within you, the brighter your beauty and light are, both inside and out! Perhaps it sounds woo-woo to some but that is how I roll… I also believe that if you look good, you feel good and you do good — for yourself and others in the world.

I am a believer in doing what you need to do to look and feel your best, whatever that is… Whether you are on board with holistic and non-invasive practices, or you choose to seek out medical procedures, or perhaps you dabble in a bit of both.  It is important to honor yourself and see a reflection that makes you happy and want to shine your light in the world. I think part of this magic is embracing and honoring the different stages and phases of beauty and your life.
